HSK 1Verbs

Existence with 有

有 means 'have' or 'there is'. Negate with 没有, never 不有.

Pattern

Subject + 有 + Object / Place + 有 + Object

Explanation

有 (yǒu) expresses possession ('I have') or existence ('there is'). It's negated with 没有, NEVER 不有.

For existence: 'Place + 有 + thing' means 'there is X at the place': '桌子上有书' (There are books on the table).
