Frequency Expressions

Frequency/times goes after the verb: Verb + Number + 次/遍.

Pattern

Verb + Number + 次/遍 (+ Object)

次 and 遍 both mean "times" but differ: 次 counts occurrences, 遍 emphasizes completing the whole process from start to finish.

The frequency goes between verb and object: "我看了两遍这个电影" or "这个电影我看了两遍".

我去过三次中国。

Wǒ qù guo sān cì Zhōngguó.

I have been to China three times.

请再说一遍。

Qǐng zài shuō yí biàn.

Please say it again (once more).

这本书我看了两遍。

Zhè běn shū wǒ kàn le liǎng biàn.

I read this book twice (all the way through).
