Direction Complements 来/去

来/去 after a verb indicates direction toward or away from the speaker.

Pattern

Verb + 来 (toward speaker) / 去 (away from speaker)

来 after a verb means movement toward the speaker; 去 means away. "他走过来" = He walked over (toward me). "他走过去" = He walked over (away from me).

Common combinations: 上来/上去, 下来/下去, 进来/进去, 出来/出去, 回来/回去.
