Because...So (因为...所以)

因为...所以 expresses cause and effect. Either half can be omitted.

Pattern

因为 + Cause, 所以 + Result

因为 introduces the reason, 所以 introduces the result. Unlike English, Chinese can use BOTH "because" and "so" in the same sentence.

You can omit either half: "因为下雨，我没去" or "我没去，所以他很生气". But don't use both halves without content between them.

因为下雨了，所以我没去。

Yīnwèi xià yǔ le, suǒyǐ wǒ méi qù.

Because it rained, I didn't go.

因为太贵了，我没买。

Yīnwèi tài guì le, wǒ méi mǎi.

Because it was too expensive, I didn't buy it.

他很累，所以早睡了。

Tā hěn lèi, suǒyǐ zǎo shuì le.

He was tired, so he went to bed early.
